Bio

Dr. Hassan is Professor of Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Science and Toxicology at North Carolina State University. Dr. Hassan’s research focuses on applying microbial physiology, genetics, and molecular biology to understand host/microbe interactions to promote the growth of good bacteria and inhibit the growth of the bad ones (i.e., Pathogenic Bacteria). His research interests include – Oxygen free radical biology, oxidative stress, microbiology and food safety, poultry microbiome and metabolome, developing patented Salmonella vaccines, isolation/application of species-specific probiotics, and developing best practices to eliminate human salmonellosis.
