Gerardo Suzán
Bio
Gerardo Suzán is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with advanced degrees in Ecology and Biology, including a PhD from The University of New Mexico and a Postdoc in Conservation Medicine. His research focuses on Disease Ecology, Conservation Medicine, One Health, and Ecohealth. With extensive international experience in countries such as the USA, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, Brazil, and Mexico, he is a Full-Time professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at UNAM and holds Level 2 in Mexico’s National Research System (SNI). Suzán has held significant roles, including president of the Wildlife Diseases Association (WDA) for Latin America (2017-2019), co-director of a France-Mexico International Joint Laboratory, and Mexico’s representative for IPBES on Biodiversity and Pandemics. He currently coordinates educational programs in Environmental Education and One Health, and is a member of the Mexican Veterinary Academy and the National Academy of Medicine.
