Bio

Gabriel Hamer earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees at the University of Illinois in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Science. He obtained his PhD in a dual degree program of Fisheries and Wildlife and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, and Behavior at Michigan State University. He spent three years as a post-doctoral researcher at Michigan State University and the University of Wisconsin. Gabe joined the faculty at Texas A&M University in the Department of Entomology in 2012 and is currently a Professor. Gabe’s research broadly investigates the ecology of infectious diseases of humans, wild animals, and domestic animals, with particular attention to those transmitted by mosquitoes, ticks, and kissing bugs. He also develops and evaluates vector control approaches aimed at reducing human and animal disease. He is a Subject Editor for the Journal of Medical Entomology and past Chair of the American Committee of Medical Entomology.
