Bio
Dr. Christopher DePerno is a Professor of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology at NC State University, where he has served since 2004. He is a dedicated educator, researcher, and extension specialist, and has mentored the next generation of wildlife and natural resource professionals.
Dr. DePerno is a 2024–2025 American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow, with placements at UNC Wilmington and Kansas State University, gaining high-level experience in academic governance, institutional strategy, and public policy advocacy. His leadership extends to serving as Associate Chair of the NC State Faculty Senate, co-leading the North Carolina Feral Swine Task Force, and managing 6,000 acres of forested property in Washington County, NC.
With a commitment to higher education leadership and institutional growth, Dr. DePerno has successfully secured over $10 million in competitive funding, collaborated on state and federal policy initiatives, and worked to enhance faculty development, student success, and research excellence. His expertise in wildlife management, conservation policy, and global one health initiatives align with the mission of the Global One Health Academy, where he contributes to advancing interdisciplinary, evidence-based solutions for environmental and public health challenges.
