Bio

I gained my Ph.D. in immunology and parasitology from the University of Georgia in what is now the Center for Global and Tropical Disease. I joined the faculty at Berry College in 1999 where I teach advanced courses in immunology, medical parasitology, and epidemiology and public health. I started the One Health minor program at Berry in 2015 and currently serve as its director and instructor for the “Introduction to One Health” course. I teach study abroad courses on tropical biomedicine, with a focus on the One Health approach, in Cuba and Costa Rica in alternating summers. My research is both field and laboratory based looking at the distribution and prevalence of Trypanosoma cruzi in the southeast United States. The One Health way of thinking is innate to all of my courses and research.
