Bio

I am a data scientist with several years of research experience in data analytics for Epidemiology and Genomic Epidemiology applied to infectious diseases. I studied applied mathematics up to master before specializing in statistical genetics for PhD. I am a research officer at the Institut Pasteur de Dakar where I head the Epidemiology and Data Science Unit. I occasionally teach statistical genetics, biostatistics and R statistical software for master programs at the University Gaston Berger of Saint Louis and University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar, Senegal. My main research interest is the development of statistical methods and tools for family-based genetic association studies of multifactorial diseases traits. My team is mainly focused on applied mathematics and statistics for biomedical research and to support public health. I am Co-Pi in H3ABioNet (Human Health and Heredity in Africa, The Bioinformatic Network) and responsible of the Senegal’s Node. I also lead the National Center for Senegal of the WHO’s African Health Observatory, on Health Systems and Policies (WHO’s Regional Office for Africa).
