Bio
My research is focused on the biology, genomics, and evolution of true flies and other insects. This includes mosquitoes and other blood feeding flies that have enormous impacts on human and animal health as vectors of disease pathogens. We are engaged in deepening understanding of the evolutionary and ecological parameters that affect specialized behaviors, life histories and gene pathways that together enable flies to be extremely successful and important components of ecosystems and food webs, but that also facilitate the part they play in transmitting devastating zoonotic diseases.
