Bio
Babafela Awosile is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Texas Tech University. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and MVSc in veterinary public health and preventative medicine from the Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta, Nigeria. He earned his PhD in epidemiology from the University of Prince Edward Island and a graduate certificate in One Health from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. He has worked as a research fellow, university lecturer, postdoctoral fellow and health information specialist in Nigeria and Canada. His instructional focus is on application of epidemiological principles in veterinary practice and promotion of one health. His research uses epidemiological, genomic tools, and one health approaches to understand occurrences of infectious diseases, especially antimicrobial-resistant bacteria, and the application of mitigation strategies to reduce the occurrences. He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (both preventive medicine and epidemiology specialties).
