Co-founder of organization that became the Institute for Healthcare Improvement over 35 years ago. Served on IHI board 11 years and as Chair for 3 years. For last seven years main research has been with UNC-CH Gillings School of Global Public Health on Maternal and Child Health with WHO and UNICEF, created the new profiles for Countdown2030 for 137 lower-and-middle-income countries for 102 indicators of maternal and child health. Served on board of WakeMed Health and Hospitals for 10 years and North Carolina Hospital Association for 3 years. Member of NC Institute of Medicine. Co-author of “Curing Health Care.”
