Funding Opportunities
The Global One Health Academy aims to catalyze innovative research and global collaborations at the intersection of human, animal, plant, and environmental health. Funding opportunities are available at faculty and student levels to support interdisciplinary One Health research activities.
Faculty Funding
Seed Grants
Seed grants support novel, interdisciplinary One Health research projects aligned with any of three priority areas: combating infectious diseases, driving food and water solutions, and addressing climate change and health disparities. Proposals are intended to support new projects and collaborations, or extensions of existing projects that represent new directions into One Health research. We welcome research proposals stemming from all disciplines, including the natural sciences, veterinary medicine, engineering, social sciences, education, and policy.
General activities supported by GOHA Seed Grants
- Collection and analysis of data
- Hiring a common graduate or undergraduate student
- Organizing and holding research-focused workshops, seminars, or symposia
- Working groups that support idea generation, white papers, review articles, or grant proposals

Faculty Travel Awards
Faculty travel awards support international or domestic travel that advances global One Health-related research or education efforts. Awards may be used to fund travel for active research efforts, educational initiatives, or other travel that will be leveraged to facilitate new partnerships or meaningfully advance research. Award amounts are available up to $2,500 for domestic travel and up to $5,000 for international travel.
Eligibility
- We welcome applications from tenure or professional track faculty members at NC State with One Health research or education that aligns with one or more of the Global One Health Academy thematic areas: driving food and water solutions, combating infectious diseases, and/or addressing climate change and health disparities.
- All applicants must be GOHA Affiliate Members.
Postdoctoral Funding
To accelerate postdoctoral research in One Health at NC State, the NC State Global One Health Academy is pleased to announce a new funding program for Postdoctoral Support Awards.
We welcome applications from postdoctoral scholars from any disciplinary background at NC State. All applicants must have One Health-related research (i.e., at the intersection of human, animal, plant, and/or environmental health) that aligns with one or more of the following Global One Health Academy thematic areas: food and water solutions, infectious diseases, and/or climate and global change. Any awarded funds must be used while the awardee is employed at NC State. Funds cannot be transferred to another institution or to another PI at NC State if the awardee moves to a new position outside of NC State.
