Bio

Courtney Anderson (previously Youngbar) is a director on the Environmental Health team at the Association of State & Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) where she oversees ASTHO’s federally funded food safety, vector-borne disease, and One Health portfolios. Through this work, she helps manage the National Association of Vector-Borne Disease Officials (NAVCO) and leads ASTHO’s One Health Network, a peer group of state health department staff who have implemented the One Health approach in their work. Courtney is passionate about bringing public health practice, agriculture, and academia together to better the health of humans, animals, and their shared environment.

Courtney has a Bachelor of Science in Animal & Poultry Sciences from Virginia Tech and received her Master of Public Health in Global Environmental Health from George Washington University. In 2017, she participated in UC Davis’s Rx One Health course and spent her graduate school practicum working with Gorilla Doctors in Rwanda. Prior to joining ASTHO, Courtney interned with Population Services International and the African Wildlife Foundation.
