Bio

Dr. Latiffah Hassan is a Malaysian veterinarian with expertise in Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology. She has been teaching, researching, and serving at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia for over two decades. During her tenure, she has made significant contributions to the field of zoonotic diseases, food safety, and antimicrobial resistance, publishing more than 100 articles, book chapters, training modules, and disease protocols. In the past decade, Dr. Hassan has played a crucial role in enhancing One Health workforce capacities in Malaysia and Southeast Asia by strategizing training programs and fostering numerous intersectoral engagements. She is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of One Health practitioners. She serves in various One Health leadership capacities in Southeast Asia and is passionate about advancing One Health as a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to address complex health challenges. Dr. Hassan holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Universiti Putra Malaysia and a PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology from Cornell University. She is currently the Co-Chair of the Commission on Prevention of Viral Spillover established by Lancet and the Coalition for Preventing Pandemics at the Source and an Advisory Board Member for University California Global Heath Institute.
