Bio

Brianna Clarke-Schwelm (she/her) is the Executive Director of the North Carolina Global Health Alliance (NCGHA), a member organization committed to elevating North Carolina as a center of global health. In her role at the NCGHA, Brianna focuses on lifting up and strengthening the state’s global health community through four primary pillars: investing in the next generation of global health leaders, sharing information and best practices, facilitating new partnerships, and advocating on behalf of North Carolina’s global health community.

Brianna began her career in global health working in health clinics first in rural Kenya and then in rural Honduras and Panama. Upon moving back to the United States, she worked for The Hunger Project, an international NGO committed to ending global hunger and poverty through community-led, integrated approaches. After receiving her MPH in Global Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, she moved to North Carolina and transferred her passion for rural community development to the state level at the NCDHHS’ Office of Rural Health. Just prior to joining the NCGHA, she served as a Director at InterAct, a domestic and sexual violence organization, where she oversaw community engagement and monitoring & evaluation.

She is passionate about holistic, collaborative approaches to addressing humanity’s most pressing health issues and she is committed to leveraging the NCGHA to bring more partners to the table to find sustainable, innovative solutions that will improve the wellbeing of humans, animals, and the planet.
