Bio
Dr. Pierce’s program in NC State’s Department of Chemistry and has been focused on addressing problems at the chemistry/biology interface, particularly focused on solutions to antimicrobial resistance and biofilms. In addition to developing his research program he has also become involved in the Comparative Medicine Institute at NC State where he was Co-Director and now Executive Director of the Integrative Sciences Initiative where he is working to develop solutions to grand challenges in human, animal and plant health.
