Accepting Applications for Postdoctoral Support Awards

To accelerate postdoctoral research in One Health at NC State, the NC State Global One Health Academy is pleased to announce a new funding program for Postdoctoral Support Awards.

Deadline: Sunday, January 26, 2025, 11:59 p.m. ET

Background

One Health is an interdisciplinary framework that recognizes the interconnectedness of humans, animals, plants, and the environment, and seeks to sustainably optimize health across these systems. Research that utilizes the One Health approach investigates problems from multiple angles, applying systems thinking to address complex global challenges.

About the Award

Award amounts are available up to $5,000 to support research or training expenses that will ultimately advance interdisciplinary One Health research or implementation by postdoctoral scholars at NC State. All awarded funds must be spent by June 30, 2025. It is anticipated that up to 5 awards will be made through this call.

Funded activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Collection and analysis of data
  • Travel to support research, attendance of workshops/trainings, or attendance of conferences
  • Development of research communication products or other activities that support dissemination of findings to the public
  • Hiring an undergraduate student to assist in research efforts
  • Publication fees

While the uses of funds are flexible, all applications should ultimately be advancing the applicant’s professional development and One Health research efforts.

Eligibility

We welcome applications from postdoctoral scholars from any disciplinary background at NC State. All applicants must have One Health-related research (i.e., at the intersection of human, animal, plant, and/or environmental health) that aligns with one or more of the following Global One Health Academy thematic areas: food and water solutions, infectious diseases, and/or climate and global change. Any awarded funds must be used while the awardee is employed at NC State. Funds cannot be transferred to another institution or to another PI at NC State if the awardee moves to a new position outside of NC State.
