Introducing Initiative Success Consoles

Most initiatives in the university’s implementation plan introduce some degree of change. For those initiatives, a key measure of success is people’s adoption of that change. To help implementation plan contacts keep the “people side of change” at the forefront of their work, Institutional Effectiveness’ strategy and implementation team (SIT) has developed a practical new resource: our Initiative Success Consoles.

The three-part fillable framework is now available for any campus project leader to use. 

A “productive pause” towards changes that stick 

Our Initiative Success Consoles align with three stages in an initiative lifecycle: plan, progress and performance. Each console offers initiative leaders a “productive pause” and intentional space to think about people’s adoption and the sustainment needed to drive lasting results. Informed by Prosci’s proven change management methodologies, each console incorporates critical success factors that help change stick over the long term. 

What does each console help you do?

Console 1: Plan

Kick off an initiative with clarity. Define where you are going, why it matters and who needs to adapt, ensuring alignment.

Console 2: Progress

Take a recurring “pulse check.” Return here regularly (e.g. bi-weekly or quarterly) to recalibrate your approach and address friction as the work evolves.

Console 3: Performance

Solidify your success. Use this when the initial solution is delivered to verify the value realized, capture lessons realized and ensure new habits are built to last.

Designed for busy teams

The consoles are concise, two-page tools engineered for immediate use. Initiative leaders and teams have used them to:

• serve as anchor documents for project meetings and agendas;
• facilitate succession planning and onboarding; and
• provide concise, shared records to ensure the initiative team is on the same page.
