From Continuing and Lifelong Education:
- When Betsy Arthur-Goodwin first came to NC State’s Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance (LCOP) program, she brought a full life with her. Now a program advisor for LCOP and a fall 2025 alumna of the program, Arthur-Goodwin describes her path to the program as anything but linear. Before LCOP, she had already navigated major personal and professional transitions, including the end of a first marriage, a return to graduate study and years of work in environments where leadership had to be practiced in real time.
From University Data and Analytics:
- University Data and Analytics launched the 2026 Incoming First-Year and Transfer Student Surveys on Monday, July 6. These annual surveys capture invaluable insights into the experiences of incoming students, including their journey through admissions, their decision to attend NC State, their experiences with new student orientation, and their interests regarding their undergraduate education.
Students who are eligible to complete the survey will receive an email invitation to participate in the survey after attending new student orientation. As a token of appreciation for their participation, all students who complete the survey will be entered into random drawings to receive one of several Amazon e-gift cards. The survey, which should take less than 15 minutes to complete, closes on Sept. 2. Results for past first-year and transfer cohorts are available on the UDA website.

From the Genetics and Genomics Academy:
- Save the date for the 5th Annual Genetics and Genomics Academy Retreat on Sept. 4 in Talley Student Union, State Ballroom. The retreat welcomes new graduate students and new faculty, highlights the research of GGA laboratories, Research Interest Groups and upcoming activities. Hear from keynote speaker Joseph Ecker, a professor and investigator at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, whose research spans from foundational plant biology to cutting-edge mammalian epigenomics.

- The Office of Global Engagement invites faculty and staff to apply for up to $5,000 through its Advancing Global Learning at Home grant program. Funding supports innovative projects that bring international perspectives, intercultural learning and global skill development directly to NC State students. Applications for 2026–27 projects are due July 31.

- The Global One Health Academy is excited to announce the third cohort of the Global One Health Scholars. Six undergraduate students were selected from a highly competitive pool of excellent applications from across multiple academic colleges at NC State. The Scholars program grows the next generation of leaders in One Health through interdisciplinary training, experiential learning and leadership development. - The Global One Health Academy is happy to announce and introduce the Nature and Health Collaborative – a campus-wide network that explores, supports and shares how nature and the health of the natural world enhances and sustains the health and wellbeing of humans and society. With the Global One Health Academy as its home, the Nature and Health Collaborative amplifies NC State’s collective efforts in research, instruction and engagement on the connection between human health and the natural world. This collaborative is led by Aaron Hipp, professor of parks, recreation and tourism management in the College of Natural Resources, and supported by an advisory board of faculty, staff and administrators across multiple academic and non-academic campus units.
- Each year, the Global One Health Academy funds an exceptional group of graduate students with One Health-related research interests. During their one-year appointment, the Global One Health Fellows are offered many opportunities, such as professional development workshops, networking with One Health professionals and more!. - On June 18, 26 workforce leaders completed the Spring 2026 Strategic Workforce Leadership Initiative (SWLI) and earned the professional designation of Strategic Workforce Leader. Held June 15-18 at the James B. Hunt Jr. Library, the session marked the fourth SWLI cohort since its launch in 2023. The spring 2026 graduates join an exclusive group of 96 designated Strategic Workforce Leaders from across North Carolina.
Hosted by the Institute for Emerging Issues and presented by the Workforce Leadership Institute, SWLI is a professional development program that equips leaders in workforce development, economic development, education, community organizations and other sectors with the skills and strategic foresight needed to capitalize on emerging opportunities in their communities. Graduates are better prepared for careers as workforce board directors, strategic workforce planners, economic developers, educational leaders, employer consultants and more.

- Advancement Services recently won a Gold award in the CASE Circle of Excellence Awards for their submission, Beyond Go-Live: A Sustainable Model for CRM Stabilization. This submission outlines Advancement Services’ approach to the stabilization of Lobo after their go-live, covering the initial triage phase, to their structured Lobo Steering Committee governance approach, and the critical transparency and communication to their advancement committee. The relevant implementation plan initiative is 12.3 Implement a modern Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) platform for University Advancement to enhance engagement and philanthropy.

- Fall 2026 applications for the Thriving in Interdisciplinary Teams Workshop Series are now open! Applications are open to all undergraduate and graduate students at NC State and are due on Sept. 9. This isn’t just a workshop; it’s a hands-on, four-session experience designed to equip students with practical tools to excel in any team.
Students will engage with peers from various fields, learning a values-based, team-centric approach to leadership. Leverage your unique strengths to build collaborative, cross-functional teams that tackle complex challenges. These skills will help you become a more effective contributor and leader, qualities employers value.
- Spring 2027 Global Leadership minor (GLM) applications are due Sept. 15. This interdisciplinary and innovative minor is designed to give students from any academic background a competitive edge in the global workforce. The study abroad component of the minor lasts 10 weeks and offers participating students the opportunity to earn 12 credit hours toward the GLM. The European sojourn commences at the NC State European Center in Prague and incorporates two additional European destinations into the itinerary. Students will gain insights into and an appreciation for a variety of cultures while collaborating with local students.
- While third-year students in the Chancellor’s Leadership Development Program (CLDP) at the Shelton Leadership Center spent a week in Valencia and Madrid, Spain, this May, their Global Leadership Experience (GLE) was actually the culmination of a year-long journey. Throughout the academic year leading up to the trip, the cohort engaged in intensive seminars and rigorous planning meetings to prepare for the international experience.
Rather than acting simply as participants, the students took full ownership of the initiative, spending months meticulously planning and organizing logistics to showcase their ability to lead an organization and navigating cross-cultural barriers. Learn more.
