December 2021 Provost’s Corner

Provost Warwick Arden

Dear faculty and staff,

Looking back on the past semester, I can say with confidence that we truly have the best faculty, staff and students around. Your perseverance and commitment to academic excellence have helped us weather times of uncertainty and reach new heights of achievement.

Our high achievers include the thousands of students we saw turn their tassels to become NC State graduates yesterday at PNC Arena. That number represents 59 associate, 2,031 bachelor’s, 966 master’s and 363 doctoral degrees. With the 6,703 degrees NC State conferred last May, the university will have awarded a total of 10,122 degrees in 2021.

Additionally, we’ve reached a 84 percent vaccination rate for campus. We’ve made so much progress this year, and hope to do even better in 2022. For the latest COVID-19 updates heading into the spring 2022 semester, visit our Protect the Pack website.

I hope that we can continue our trajectory of achievement through collaboration to think and do, to ideate and innovate. Together, we can achieve the extraordinary.

Thank you for your continued commitment to making NC State a bright light in the higher education landscape. I can’t wait to see where we’ll go in 2022.

I hope that your holiday break will be filled with rest, quality time with friends and family.

Until next time,
Warwick Arden
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
