3D Memo: Programs that Involve the Participation of Minors

In order to protect the minors that participate in NC State online programs and activities, REG 01.25.18 has been updated to include online programming with minors in the same manner as in-person programs and activities. Effective January 1, 2021, all online programs and activities offered to minors that require a registration process are governed by this regulation and must fulfill the requirements as outlined.

To help employees deal with the challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of State Human Resources assembled a task force of HR experts to create a resource guide for parents. That guide covers many topics, including where to find child care, leave options, flexible scheduling and a change to a community service leave policy.

3D Memo: Mandatory Two-Factor Authentication Enrollment for NC State Students

To improve cybersecurity, on Sept. 1, 2020, NC State will begin requiring students to use Google 2-Step Verification to log in to NC State G Suite and Duo Security to access other services, such as MyPack Portal, Moodle and REPORTER.

3D Memo: Important Update: COVID-19 Special Faculty and Staff Leave Provisions and Expanded Community Service Leave

The University of North Carolina System has revised its guidelines for COVID-19 paid administrative leave and community service programs. The new guidelines will go into effect August 1, 2020, and remain in effect until revised or rescinded.

3D Memo: COVID-19 Voluntary Shared Leave Bank

NC State is implementing a special COVID-19 voluntary shared leave program beginning August 1, 2020, and ending December 31, 2020. The COVID-19 Voluntary Shared Leave Bank will allow NC State employees to voluntarily donate their leave time to other leave-earning NC State employees who have exhausted their accrued leave due to COVID-19-related qualifying events.

The North Carolina General Assembly recently passed House Bill 1096, and the governor subsequently signed the bill into law. Among its various provisions, HB 1096 repeals a statutory requirement for the Board of Governors to monitor certain university salary and position actions that met designated thresholds.

3D Memo: Travel Exception Process and Required Approvals During COVID-19 Impacted Operations

University travel remains restricted due to UNC System directives and public health concerns. All travel is considered an exception and must be approved by the Chancellor or the Chancellor’s designees. Travel exception approvals are required before travel occurs, and for reimbursement of any travel expenses.

3D Memo: Revisions to the 2020 University Holiday Calendar

As a result of the changes to the fall 2020 semester calendar, the university has revised the 2020 university holiday calendar. The university will be open on Labor Day (Sept. 7, 2020), and classes will be in session on that day. As a result of this change, the Labor Day holiday has been added to the 2020 winter break.

3D Memo: COVID-19 Related Workplace Safety Expectations and Approvals

Safety measures – such as face coverings, physical distancing of at least six feet, and hand sanitation – are expected when employees are on campus. In certain areas and circumstances, more specific requirements may be approved. Any requests for personal protective equipment (PPE) or other safety requirements that go beyond the expected protocols outlined in the Return to Work guide and associated websites must be submitted for review and approval.
