In this memo, VC Vouk and Provost Arden inform all faculty conducting research/scholarship projects that the university is taking steps to significantly reduce research and scholarship activity on campus. Most research labs and facilities will need to be closed no later than March 20, 2020.

From Provost Arden: Change in Spring 2020 Schedule and Move to Online Instruction

In this memo, Provost Arden informs all instructors of record that when classes resume on March 23, their courses should not meet face-to-face but rather use the alternate methods, including online methods, for course delivery that they have developed in their academic continuity plans. Exceptions will be allowed in limited circumstances and must be approved by their college.

In this memo, Provost Arden asks all instructors of record to create academic continuity plans for each of their Spring 2020 courses and submit them to department heads or unit leaders no later than March 20.  Resources, templates and training have been developed to help faculty create course continuity plans.

Coronavirus Update for Mar. 4, 2020

As NC State nears spring break, Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread throughout the world and in parts of the United States. As of yesterday, we learned of a confirmed case in Wake County; the individual tested positive after returning from travel to Washington State and has no known connections to campus.

Coronavirus Update: New Travel Restrictions and Recommendations

NC State continues to monitor the evolving outbreak of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Given the rapid spread of COVID-19, and to help ensure the ongoing health and safety of the university community, effective immediately NC State is prohibiting university-related travel to CDC-designated Level 2 and Level 3 countries for Coronavirus and will not reimburse travel to these areas.

3D Memo: Annual Raise Process (ARP) and Release of 1% Salary Hold

Without authorization of an Annual Raise Process, our university faces challenges in maintaining salary equity within our institutional peer group as well as competitive pressures to retain top talent. Campus units should immediately release the hold on their one-percent for ARP and use the university’s existing guidelines to pursue salary adjustments to address labor market, equity, retention and other critical compensation needs in accordance with the university’s regular salary administration procedures.

University Updates on Emerging Respiratory Illness 2019-nCoV

NC State University is working with state and local health officials to closely monitor the outbreak of respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) first identified in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China.  The campus community, and travelers in particular, are reminded to stay updated as events continue to unfold on the world stage.
