The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost is announcing leadership transitions in several units, effective July 1, as part of an organizational realignment to better position NC State for continued success. This work builds on existing strengths, aligns with strategic priorities and ensures our structures evolve alongside NC State’s mission and aspirations as the leading land-grant university. Interdisciplinary teaching, research and engagement are central to our work, and these changes are intended to strengthen that work and build on the strong foundation already in place.
As part of these changes, the Office of University Interdisciplinary Programs (OUIP) and the Office of Academic Strategy, Innovation and Solutions (OASIS) will transition to new leadership structures. Rob Dunn, senior vice provost for University Interdisciplinary Programs, will return to faculty in Applied Ecology within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and Helen Chen, senior vice provost for Academic Strategy and Innovation, will become faculty in the Department of Computer Science within the College of Engineering.
We are grateful for their contributions and wish them well as they transition to faculty roles. Their work has strengthened important programs and initiatives across the university. We also recognize the contributions of staff members whose roles and responsibilities will change as a result of these transitions.
Heidi Hobbs, associate professor emerita in the School of Public and International Affairs, will serve as interim senior vice provost to support continuity and ongoing evaluation of organizational opportunities in the Provost’s Office.
University leaders are working directly with faculty and staff whose reporting structures are affected to ensure a smooth transition and continued support for students, faculty and university partners.
