February 2023 Provost’s Corner

Warwick Arden

Dear faculty and staff,

Tomorrow, as the university observes our Wellness Day, I encourage you to do what is necessary to properly care for yourself and your loved ones. Various health and wellness activities and events will be held around campus, and you can learn more about those here.

This month, we recognize Black History Month, honoring the achievements of and by Black Americans and their pivotal role in our nation’s history. This year’s Black History Month theme is Black Euphoria: Just B.E.!”, where the campus can come together to learn and reflect on the holistic Black experience. You can find more information and a full calendar of events here.

Honorary degrees represent NC State’s highest recognition of outstanding contributions to academic, professional or civic society that create a model for others to emulate and reflect the mission and vision of the university. If you know of someone who would be a great fit for an honorary degree, read our article in this month’s newsletter and visit the provided link to make a submission.

We’re also looking to recognize NC State employees through our University Awards for Excellence. If you know of an outstanding staff member who deserves recognition, please nominate them for a University Award for Excellence, the most prestigious honor bestowed upon NC State staff. Recipients demonstrate excellence in their college, department/unit, the NC State campus community or in the lives of others.

I appreciate all of your hard work this semester, and I encourage you to reflect on how you can best care for yourself, and to check in on your colleagues and students to see how they are doing.

To keep up with all academic and faculty- or staff-related developments, follow @NCStateProvost on Twitter.

Until next time,

Warwick Arden

Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
