NC State Coronavirus Resources

Coronavirus has impacted us all in one way or another, both personally and professionally. We want to provide you with the resources necessary to continue with your work, teaching, research and service as much as possible given the current climate and social distancing practices. Below are some available resources that may help.

General Information

NC State Coronavirus Site

This page includes the latest campus updates, an FAQ page, community resources, official university guidance and more.

University Calendar

Please take a look at the University Calendar to see if your colleges, departments or units have events, meetings or conferences listed that have been canceled or postponed.

For Instructors

Please reach out to DELTA directly if you have questions, comments or concerns by contacting the LearnTech help desk at learntech@ncsu.edu or 919.513.7094. Stay up to date by following @NCStateDELTA on Twitter.

Keep Teaching

The Provost’s Office provides guidance to help NC State faculty work flexibly, quickly and collaboratively to preserve and continue classes, even in periods of prolonged disruption.

Workshops for Getting Your Courses Online Quickly

Learn how to quickly get your course content online and effectively communicate the transition to your students. During this workshop, we will show you how Moodle and Zoom allow you to teach your classes remotely.

Keep Teaching: Academic Continuity Planning Online Workshops

Join DELTA and the Office of Faculty Development for a workshop to guide you in creating a basic academic continuity plan for your course. The workshop is held online in Zoom and will be offered multiple times throughout March.

Disability Resource Office – Instructor Guidance on Continuing Accommodations

It is important to consider how accommodations can and will continue to be delivered.  Converting to an online format may change what accommodations are needed and how they are implemented. Not all students with disabilities and chronic medical conditions are connected with the DRO, and there may be students whose needs only become apparent with this transition to a new learning environment.

Reach All Learners

Please ensure all students can access your online course materials, including students with disabilities. Please refer to the IT Accessibility Quick Guide and the Quick Course Content Checklist for information. For assistance, contact the IT Accessibility Office at accessibility@ncsu.edu

For Students

Tips for Students to Prepare for Online Learning

DELTA has enlisted students to give their best tips and tricks for success with online course work.

DASA Keep Learning

It may seem overwhelming to move to an entirely virtual learning environment on short notice. We’ve got good news. NC State is prepared, and your Pack is here to support you. DASA has provided resources and strategies for students to get started and keep learning throughout the semester.

For Researchers

Most research labs and facilities need to be closed no later than March 20 according to a March 18 memo from Provost Arden and Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Vouk. The following resources can help with the process:

Technological/Other Resources

NC State Faculty and Staff Ombuds

The NC State Faculty and Staff Ombuds Office invites you to a virtual weekly open house held each Wednesday. It starts at noon and lasts for 20 minutes, and is a place to discuss conflict engagement strategies in this COVID-19 environment. No registration is required. The program is also available on the Faculty and Staff Ombuds Office website and via a blog post.

NC State University Libraries

The Libraries is expanding its online services and resources in support of academic continuity. As faculty and students transition to online learning and teaching, the Libraries has created a Coronavirus Response page—a convenient reference page that links you to all our most relevant resources.

Additional NC State DELTA Resources

DELTA has gathered tips, resources and training opportunities together in one place. If you are new to using technology in your courses, two of NC State’s learning technology tools — Moodle and Zoom — may be especially useful to you and DELTA can help you get to know more about them.

Additional Best Practices

The Chronicle of Higher Education has shared a guide called Moving Online Now: How to Keep Teaching during Coronavirus. The guide provides excellent suggestions and has a section called “How to be a better online teacher.”

Please let us know about other helpful resources and we’ll add them to this list.
