Provost’s Corner: September 2018

Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Warwick A. Arden

Dear faculty and staff,

I hope all of you are safe and sound in the wake of Hurricane Florence. Let us commit to coming together to assist those in need, especially our colleagues and students impacted by the storm. Please review our available resources and information on ways to engage in relief efforts.

Also, please take a moment to read Chancellor’s Woodson’s letter to campus for further information. Times like these give us a chance showcase what makes NC State truly great.

We also want to thank everyone for helping ensure a smooth transition into the 2018-19 academic year after a busy summer. New faculty, staff and our largest ever first-year class are now on campus.

We’ll welcome more people to NC State with our annual Parents and Families Weekend, which will take place September 28-30. Later this week, Entrepalooza, NC State’s annual festival celebrating entrepreneurship and innovation, will take place. This event nurtures our students’ Think and Do spirit, which competitors integrate into their startup ventures.

Entrepalooza offers a glimpse into how we foster creativity here at NC State, a hub for entrepreneurial activity. Be sure to check out our wealth of related programs and initiatives for faculty, staff and students.

This month also marks the two-year anniversary of the Provost’s Office newsletter, and we want to get the word out on NC State academic happenings to as many in our community as possible. Check out our newsletter archives and sign up for our monthly email.

To keep up with all academic and faculty- or staff-related developments, follow @NCStateProvost on Twitter.

Until next time,
Warwick Arden
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
