August 2019 Provost’s Corner

Dear faculty and staff,

Welcome to a new academic year! Campus certainly didn’t take a break during the summer, and we’re keeping up our momentum as thousands of new students and faculty make their way to NC State.

Over the past several months, many of you ventured away from campus as well to take Think and Do across the country and around the world. You can read about what your colleagues were up to in our “NC State Summer Fun” article. 

It was great to see many of you as you returned from your adventures at Convocation this past Monday. Blair Kelley gave a wonderful address to attendees, and I hope that each member of the Class of 2023 took away some valuable insights that will guide them through their academic careers and personal lives.

Regardless of what you were up to this summer, let’s end the season and welcome in the academic year by celebrating Wolfpack Welcome Week and Packapalooza. These events are the perfect way to meet up with old colleagues and welcome the many new members of our Wolfpack family.

If any of you are new faculty, please take a look at our Resources for Faculty Success article in this newsletter. Also, be on the lookout for information concerning our next strategic plan — the entire campus community can give their feedback to help write the university’s next chapter.

We want faculty, staff and students to feel welcome and at home at NC State, and give everyone a solid foundation to excel both personally and professionally. Again, welcome to the 2019-2020 academic year, and I look forward to working with you all to help NC State continue to grow and succeed.
