Integrative Sciences Initiative Directors and Woodson Hall Occupants Announced

Two new directors of NC State’s Integrative Sciences Initiative (ISI) and the first occupants of Woodson Hall, the heart of the ISI, have been announced. Milad Abolhasani and Melanie Simpson were named director of accelerated technologies and director of research, respectively, effective October 1.

NC State Receives NSF Grant to Establish the Center for Accelerated Photocatalysis

The National Science Foundation (NSF) announced that North Carolina State University will direct a center that deploys self-driving labs to accelerate discovery for reactions which use light as a catalyst in challenging chemical transformations. The NSF Center for Accelerated Photocatalysis is supported by an NSF Centers for Chemical Innovation Program Phase I grant.

New Building Will Take Familiar Name

North Carolina State University’s Integrative Sciences Building, currently under construction and scheduled to open on the Brickyard in 2026, will be known as Woodson Hall in honor of Chancellor Randy Woodson, the university’s Board of Trustees announced on Sept. 6..
