Rebecca Sanchez Named Director of NC State’s Quality Enhancement Plan

Rebecca Sanchez has been named director of NC State’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), effective October 1. Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Warwick Arden and Vice Provost of Assessment and Accreditation Fashaad Crawford made the announcement today.

“Rebecca has a wealth of experience in higher education leadership and is committed to ensuring that students actively participate in meaningful experiences that strengthen their curiosity, competence, resilience and goal-setting,” said Arden. “We are excited to see how she and the QEP implementation team will collaborate to enhance student success through Packways: Learning by Doing, the university’s 2024-2029 QEP.”

Sanchez is currently senior instructional designer and digital learning assessment lead for Digital Education and Learning Technology Applications (DELTA) at NC State. There, she collaborates with faculty and DELTA teams to analyze complex instructional challenges and develop, implement and evaluate innovative and pedagogically sound solutions. She also works with administrators, faculty, staff and students to create and assess impactful learning experiences and enhance the quality of education at NC State. Sanchez has worked individually and collaboratively to build systematic cultures of assessment, reflection and growth based on innovative and strategic data-informed decision making. 

Sanchez has been a member of DELTA’s Course Quality and Wicked Problems, Wolfpack Solutions teams. She has strong interests in student agency and metacognition, as well as data-informed instructional decisions.

“Rebecca’s dedication to the cycle of design and assessment in support of student success is perfectly aligned with the Office of Assessment and Accreditation’s vision to support innovative and strategic data-informed decision-making for institutional excellence,” said Crawford. “Her focus on student success and depth of experience at NC State will help our team continue to produce strong results for the campus community.”

She is an accomplished higher education professional with more than 20 years of experience in assessment, course/program design, leadership and grants administration. Prior to her current position, Sanchez was a lead instructional designer at DELTA from 2020-22 and an instructional designer with the unit from 2017-20. Sanchez received the Pride of the Wolfpack Award in 2020 and 2021 for impactful project work and community building.

“As QEP director, I want to create a pathway for all students to participate in high-impact experiences, in part by creating a network of supporters and collaborators across campus,” said Sanchez. “I look forward to working with the QEP team and the Office of Assessment and Accreditation to bring Packways to fruition and having a lasting positive impact on our students’ experience.”

Sanchez earned a Ph.D. and Master of Science in cognitive and developmental psychology from the University of Kentucky, and a Bachelor of Science in psychology, as well as a certificate in education, from Tulane University.
