Strategic Planning Update

NC State alumni gateway

NC State continues to move forward with the development of the university’s next strategic plan. Task forces are meeting virtually, with information on meetings available via the NC State university calendar as well as the task force websites. The university community is encouraged to participate in these meetings via Zoom, and to provide feedback through the individual task force websites feedback form.

  1. The description of the task force said it was comprised of comprehensive groups of individuals facilitated by an outside consultant. I am wondering why the Cooperative Extension is not included or at least identified as having representation on the task force. The NC State Extension Service should be an integral part of the strategic, since it is the third branch of a land-grant university and it is the “face” of NCSU in the community.

    1. Extension is indeed a critical component of NC State. Rich Linton, dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, co-chairs the Envisaging the Next Generation Land-Grant University Task Force and Rich Bonanno, director of NC State Extension, is a member of the task force. You can learn more about the task force at https://committees.provost.ncsu.edu/envisaging-the-next-generation-land-grant-university/, which includes a link to their next task force meeting and a form you can use to provide feedback.
