Beyond our disciplinary expertise, we share a commitment to effective pedagogy and continuous improvement. This is where the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) comes into play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is SoTL?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>SoTL is a systematic inquiry into student learning that allows faculty to explore, evaluate, and refine their teaching practices. It&#8217;s more than simply trying new techniques; it involves:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&nbsp;Systematic Investigation: Employing rigorous research methods to examine teaching and learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;Public Sharing: Disseminating findings through publications, presentations, and other scholarly outlets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;Focus on Student Learning: Centering the inquiry on understanding and improving student outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By engaging in SoTL, you can:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&nbsp;Gain deeper insights into the effectiveness of your teaching strategies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;Contribute to the broader academic community through scholarly work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;Enhance student learning and engagement in your courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;Develop a reflective and evidence-based approach to teaching.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At NC&#160;State, we recognize the importance of supporting faculty in their pursuit of SoTL.
