Nominations are solicited from all members of the campus community. This year, we will be giving up to four awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Not sure whom to recommend?<\/strong> Think about faculty, staff, students, or a group of any gender identity who are committed to the advocacy of gender equity in everyday life at NC&#160;State. Nominees should demonstrate excellence in one or more of the following areas over the past 12 months:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Leadership:<\/strong> Taking action to promote gender equity on and beyond campus through leadership roles;<\/li><li><strong>Service:<\/strong> Supporting equity for women through job-related or voluntary roles;<\/li><li><strong>Scholarship:<\/strong> Contributing new knowledge and\/or informing policy and practice related to women\u2019s well-being and equality.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>New for the 2022 Equity Awards!<\/strong> For the upcoming award cycle, we have added a \u201cGroup\u201d category for nominations to recognize the work that occurs in a group or team setting. A group, for the purpose of an Equity Award nomination, is considered: more than one person from the campus community who is working collaboratively on a shared project\/team around gender equity issues. Examples can include, but are not limited to: a group project, a student organization, a task force or team within a larger Unit\/Department\/College, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Criteria for rating these areas will be based on commitment to leadership, service and\/or scholarship as well as the impact of the nominee\u2019s efforts. Successful nominations will address the following questions in 4250 characters or less each:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Describe the nominee&#8217;s activities over the past 12 months with regard to leadership, service, and\/or scholarship. Make sure to touch on all applicable categories in your response.<\/li><li>Describe the impact or potential impact of your nominee&#8217;s activities to advance women&#8217;s equity on the NC&#160;State Community.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nominations will close on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 11:59pm.<\/strong> Award winners will be announced at the 2022 Sisterhood Celebration on February 28, 2022. This year&#8217;s theme will be <em>Creating Our New Normal<\/em>. The Symposium will include a keynote lecture, concurrent sessions, and a poster session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding: 5px;float: right\" src=\"https:\/\/web.ncsu.edu\/email-generator\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/BlumSusan2021_0.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Susan D. Blum\" width=\"100\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">Our keynote speakers will be Dr. Susan D Blum. Dr. Blum is a professor of anthropology at the University of Notre Dame, currently fixated on education and pedagogical praxis, after a previous incarnation as a China anthropologist. She is the author of <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">&#8220;I Love Learning; I Hate School\u201d: An Anthropology of College<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\"> (Cornell, 2016) and <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">My Word! Plagiarism and College Culture<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\"> (Cornell, 2009), and the editor of the recent volume <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\">Ungrading: Why Rating Students Undermines Learning (and What to Do Instead)<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\"> (West Virginia University Press, 2020). With 5 co-authors, she has written \u201cA Theory of Public Higher Education,\u201d published in Soundings: An Interdisciplinary Journal in July 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We invite faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and staff from all member institutions of the Cooperating Raleigh Colleges (NC&#160;State, Meredith College, Saint Augustine\u2019s University, Shaw University, Wake Tech Community College, William Peace University) to attend.
