Naming Our Way Into the Future

In 2024, NC State’s Board of Trustees voted to name Woodson Hall in honor of now-retired Chancellor Randy Woodson. Inspired by Woodson’s legacy, several donors have made naming gifts of their own to support this cutting-edge facility, under construction on the Brickyard.

ISI Workshops Showcase Interdisciplinary Possibilities

The Integrative Sciences Initiative at NC State seeks to transform education through promoting scholarly collaboration across disciplines. This summer, the ISI spearheaded efforts for change through a series of workshops designed to bring faculty, staff and students from across the university — as well as from other institutions — together to imagine the future of STEM in higher education.

New Gift From Kenan Charitable Trust Honors Woodson, Enhances Woodson Hall

The William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust has committed $5 million to Woodson Hall, NC State’s newest academic building and the university’s highest priority capital project.

Integrative Sciences Initiative Directors and Woodson Hall Occupants Announced

Two new directors of NC State’s Integrative Sciences Initiative (ISI) and the first occupants of Woodson Hall, the heart of the ISI, have been announced. Milad Abolhasani and Melanie Simpson were named director of accelerated technologies and director of research, respectively, effective October 1.

NC State Receives NSF Grant to Establish the Center for Accelerated Photocatalysis

The National Science Foundation (NSF) announced that North Carolina State University will direct a center that deploys self-driving labs to accelerate discovery for reactions which use light as a catalyst in challenging chemical transformations. The NSF Center for Accelerated Photocatalysis is supported by an NSF Centers for Chemical Innovation Program Phase I grant.
