Senior Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and Services Don Hunt will retire effective July 1, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Warwick Arden announced today.
Until then, he will be working remotely in primarily a consulting role. Starting April 1, Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff Cindy Barr will be appointed as interim senior vice provost for Enrollment Management and Services.
“We are grateful to Don for his dedicated service to NC State and to Enrollment Management and Services in particular,” said Arden. “We wish him well in his coming retirement and in all future pursuits.”
Hunt joined NC State in 2021. As senior vice provost, Hunt has provided strategic leadership for student access, admissions, scholarships and financial aid, registration and records, summer sessions, campus visits, non-degree studies, and family and scholar programs.
He has also advanced enrollment planning and analytics, expanded community college partnerships, and led initiatives that streamline student pathways and improve institutional efficiency. As chair of the university’s Enrollment Management Committee, he collaborated with academic and administrative leaders to align resources with long-term enrollment goals.
Before coming to NC State, Hunt was Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment at the University of California, Davis, where he oversaw admissions, financial aid, registrar operations and enrollment analytics. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State University, Fresno, and both a Master of Science in Technology Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is also a U.S. Army veteran.
Barr is the current vice provost for strategic initiatives and chief of staff in Enrollment Management and Services. In her role as interim senior vice provost, she will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for student access, admissions, scholarships and financial aid, registration and records, summer sessions, campus visits, non-degree studies, and family and scholar programs.
