Tony Reevy Named Executive Director of Development and Assistant Vice Provost for University Interdisciplinary Initiatives Development

Tony Reevy has been named Executive Director of Development and Assistant Vice Provost for University Interdisciplinary Initiatives Development, effective July 1. Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Warwick Arden made the announcement today. Reevy will report directly to the provost.

“Tony brings a wealth of higher education and fundraising experience to the Provost’s Office,” said Arden. “I look forward to seeing how he will bolster development efforts in alignment with Wolfpack 2030: Powering the Extraordinary.”

In this role, which is a shared position between the Provost’s Office and University Advancement, Reevy will develop, implement and manage comprehensive fundraising strategies for university interdisciplinary initiatives, and will partner with development staff across campus, including college/unit chief development officers and members of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. He will work to develop and execute individual donor cultivation strategies to inspire prospective donors, as well as create strategies and solicitations of existing donors to the university to support strategic interdisciplinary priorities. Reevy’s initial priority will be to raise funds for the Integrative Sciences Building.

Reevy is currently director of development for NC State’s Institute for Emerging Issues (IEI) and Shelton Leadership Center. In this position, he founded the Shelton Leadership Center’s fundraising program, and revived IEI’s fundraising efforts. Due to Reevy’s efforts, the two units will raise a combined total of over $7 million in FY 2021-22. Reevy has also worked in senior development positions for the NC State University Libraries and the Institute for the Environment and Carolina Environmental Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Reevy is a steering committee co-founder of the Three Rivers Rail Trail in Durham, an organization advocating for a new trail from Durham to Timberlake, North Carolina. He also serves as a board member and secretary of the Norfolk & Southern Historical Society, an organization he co-founded and for which he wrote and successfully completed the nonprofit’s 501(c)3 application. He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and NC State’s TIDE Book Club. Reevy is also past chair of the Policy Board of the Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Program.

Reevy received a Master of Science in Communication from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, a MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill, and Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering and chemistry from NC State.
