What Are You Doing This Summer?

NC State faculty, staff and students — the 2021-22 academic year is done, but we know you’re staying busy throughout the summer. Do your plans involve sun and sand, research, service or a little bit of everything? We want to tell the campus community about what you’re up to in the August 2022 issue of the Provost’s Office newsletter.

If you’re interested in participating, please send a paragraph description of your summer adventures, along with a high-resolution photo and your name/position/department to provost-communications@ncsu.edu by Monday, August 8.

  1. There is a new NC State summer program at the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez that is cross disciplinary – the NC State Puerto Rico Summer Program in Engineering and Social Sciences. Dr. Louis Martin-Vega, Dean of the College of Engineering, asked Dr. Clifford Griffin, professor of political science and program director, and Ms. Lisa Marshall, director of outreach, retention & engagement in the Department of Nuclear Engineering and associate summer program director, to stand up said program. Drs. Mayra Mendez and Lourdes Medina are our UPRM Industrial Engineering faculty counterparts. The program brings together UPRM and NC State students in the classroom and enhances cross cultural competencies. Courses offered include Medical Device Development, Engineering Economics, Geographies of Energy, and Introduction to International Relations.
