January 2022 Provost’s Corner

Dear faculty and staff,

Welcome to the spring 2022 semester! You’ll notice a few new faces around campus this year, as we welcome more than 1,300 new students to NC State.

These and all our students are in the middle of Winter Welcome Week, where they’ll build community, make new friends and find new ways to get involved at the university. This year, we’re able to office mostly in-person programming, with some virtual options as well.

I hope that you’re as excited about the new year and new semester as I am. We’ve come a long way since the beginning of 2021, and many of you shared your experiences over the past year in our Lessons Learned from 2021 article.

While you return to your classrooms, labs and offices, please keep in mind updated COVID-19 protocols for the spring semester. Each one of you plays a vital role in keeping our community safe and healthy, and our university open and running smoothly.

I look forward to continuing to work with you throughout the semester as you teach, conduct research and serve NC State. This is shaping up to be a momentous year, one where we can all collaborate to move toward our goals.
