October 2021 Provost’s Corner

Provost Warwick Arden

Dear faculty and staff,

I want to give a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for working hard to make this semester a success. NC State is now 82 percent vaccinated against COVID-19, and we’re starting to enjoy coming together as a campus community and enjoying moving closer toward normal.

We’ve learned quite a bit from our experience over the past 19 months, and we’re looking at new ways of thinking and doing to make NC State a better place to work and learn. Earlier this spring, Chancellor Woodson convened four Post COVID-19 Innovation Task Forces — Instruction and Student Support, Research, How We Work, and Digital Transformation — to examine innovations and adaptations implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now we want your feedback on the task force recommendations, which are summarized on the 2021 Post COVID-19 Innovation Task Force website, as we consider what will be included in the first three-year implementation plan for Wolfpack 2030: Powering the Extraordinary. Please provide your responses by Friday, October 29 — they will be invaluable in deciding how we’ll move forward.

We’re currently making some changes to the Provost’s Office as well to better serve the university and further NC State’s mission. You can learn more about what’s happening here.

Even with all the changes taking place across the university, one thing remains the same: we all love NC State and call the university home. I invite you to join us for the annual Red and White Week, taking place October 24-30. We’ll enjoy the Chancellor’s Fall Address, a homecoming football game, and much more.

I’m encouraged by being able to see many of you back on campus engaging in your work serving our faculty, staff, students and community. Thank you for your efforts to advance our land-grant mission and move us toward a better future.

Until next time,
Warwick Arden
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
