September 2019 Provost’s Corner

Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Warwick Arden

Dear faculty and staff,

I hope you are all adjusting well to a new academic year. In addition to classes being back in full swing, we’re in the midst of a month full of activity on and off campus.

As you’re reading this, I’ll be traveling with colleagues from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Veterinary Medicine to West Africa. CALS Dean Richard Linton, CVM Dean Paul Lunn, Director of Global Health Sid Thakur and I will visit partners in Senegal and Morocco as we seek to grow NC State’s Global Health program.

On campus this weekend, you’re sure to see many more new faces as we celebrate our annual Parents and Families Weekend, September 20-22. Three days of family fun will include tours of the Gregg Museum and JC Raulston Arboretum, a football game, college-specific events, service opportunities and more. I encourage you to get involved and welcome new and returning members of the Wolfpack family.

Recently, NC State announced the winners of the Chancellor’s Innovation Fund grants and the annual Envisioning Research contest. These faculty, staff and students highlight how we’re always coming up with new ways to Think and Do in the lab, classroom, field and community.

In addition to these exciting happenings, we’re also celebrating the third anniversary of the Provost’s Office newsletter this month. We’d love to get NC State’s academic news out to as many people as possible, so be sure to check out our newsletter archives and sign up for our monthly email.

To keep up with all academic and faculty- or staff-related developments, follow @NCStateProvost on Twitter.

Until next time,

Warwick Arden
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
