June 2019 Provost’s Corner

Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Warwick A. Arden

Dear faculty and staff,

Welcome to summer! Graduation may be behind us, but there’s still plenty going on across campus. From summer sessions and camps to New Student Orientation and more, faculty, staff and students stay busy year round.

Whatever your plans are this summer, we’d love to hear about them. Tell the campus community about your travel, research, community engagement and more in the August 2019 Provost’s Office newsletter. If interested, please send a paragraph description of your summer adventures, along with a high-resolution photo and your name/position/department to provost-communications@ncsu.edu by August 9.

If you’re looking for some summer reading, pick up a copy of Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah. The book is NC State’s 2019 Common Reading Program selection.

There are also plenty of fun activities on campus. Treat yourself to one of the ongoing exhibits at the Gregg Museum, tour the Randleigh Dairy Heritage Museum (and get some Howling Cow while you’re at it), or stroll around Lake Raleigh and the JC Raulston Arboretum. At NC State, you don’t even have to leave campus to have a summer adventure.

Whether staying in North Carolina, traveling the country or going abroad, I hope that you have a great time during the summer months, getting some rest and relaxation along the way. Before long, we’ll be starting a new academic year, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store.

To keep up with all academic and faculty- or staff-related developments, follow @NCStateProvost on Twitter.

Until next time,
Warwick Arden
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
