Vice Provost for Continuing Education Alice Warren to Retire

Alice Warren, vice provost for continuing education, has announced that she is retiring this fall, effective October 1. Warren has spent the past 39 years in various capacities at NC State and the McKimmon Center for Extension and Continuing Education.

Update on NCSU Libraries Leadership Search

Progress continues in the Senior Vice Provost and Director of Libraries search. The nomination committee began reviewing applicants in July and will identify candidates in August for video conference interviews. On-campus interviews for three or four candidates will be conducted during the last week of September into the first few weeks of October.

This fall, more than 4,800 first-time, first year students, 1,300 transfer students, 2,200 master’s and 525 doctoral students, and 100 Agricultural Institute students will call the university home.

State Budget and Salary Increase Implementation Process Update

North Carolina’s state legislators recently passed the FY 2019 state budget, which includes a total of $20 million for employee salary increases to be distributed throughout the UNC System’s 17 institutions. NC State is awaiting guidance from the UNC Board of Governors about how these salary funds will be distributed and how NC State may use its share for employee increases.

Bringing Invisible Worlds to Light

NC State’s recent “Invisible Worlds: Bringing the Unseen Into Focus” exhibit in downtown Raleigh showcased digital games and walking through tunnels of light — all in the name of teaching new scientific concepts. The collaboration between the College of Design and College of Sciences featured the work of both faculty and students.
