Red and White Week Campus Celebration
MEMORANDUM
TO: Deans, Directors and Department Heads
FROM: Warwick A. Arden, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
SUBJECT: Red and White Week Campus Celebration and Staff/Student Attendance
DATE: October 21, 2016
NC State’s Red and White Week Campus Celebration is planned for Friday, October 28 at Talley Student Union, Stafford Commons beginning at 3:30 p.m. See https://news.ncsu.edu/2016/10/red-white-week/ for more details on Red and White Week activities.
This campus-wide event is an opportunity for students, staff and faculty to gather together to celebrate our pending campaign kickoff, and we hope for a large turnout. Guests will enjoy free food, giveaways, a make your own ice cream sundae, entertainment provided by DJ MC, and a community Lego sculpture build where participants will be invited to help build NC State’s future ‘brick by brick”. It will be a memorable event for all who are able to attend.
In the spirit of fostering maximum campus participation:
- I invite faculty to consider 1) dismissing classes with a 3:30 p.m. start time or 2) treating a student’s absence to attend the event as “excused” under the university’s attendance regulations (https://policies.ncsu.edu/regulation/reg-02-20-03). Ultimately, academic considerations should drive faculty decisions in this regard.
- I encourage supervisors to permit staff to participate as work schedules and safety considerations allow.
Thank you for your support of this signature NC State Red and White Week event.
