Mary Ann Danowitz Named Interim College of Education Dean

Announcement by Provost Arden:

As I shared last week, Jayne Fleener plans to step down as dean of the College of Education at the end of June.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mary Ann Danowitz, currently head of the Department of Leadership, Policy and Adult and Higher Education, as interim dean, effective July 1, 2015. As an experienced administrator who is relatively new to NC State, I believe Dr. Danowitz brings a valuable external perspective to the College that will be especially important as she leads the college in the coming year. In the time since she became joined the university in 2012, she has taken significant steps to strengthen LPAHE, has been leading the development of new education leadership pathways for community college administrators and has spearheaded the reorganization of the college’s PhD programs. I know you will do everything you can to support Dr. Danowitz in her new role.

I will begin a national search for dean of the College of Education in the fall, with an initial review of candidates in early 2016. My hope is to have the new dean in place July 2016.
