College of Education Dean Jayne Fleener to Step Down

Announcement by Provost Arden:

Many of you have already heard that Jayne Fleener announced that she is stepping down as dean of the College of Education, effective June 30, 2015. I want to be among the first to thank Dean Fleener for her leadership.

Jayne arrived at NC State in 2010 and has been at the helm of the college during a crucial time in its history. In response to numerous challenges, she has worked skillfully to coordinate, consolidate and reorganize a number of programs to ensure the college’s organizational success going forward.

I am confident that Jayne will continue to make significant contributions to the college and the University as she returns to the faculty with a 51% appointment at the Friday Institute. Her passion for and commitment to teacher education research and innovation are undeniable. I know you will join me in wishing Jayne all the best as she prepares for her upcoming transition.

In the coming weeks, I will announce an interim dean of the college and provide details regarding a nationwide search for a new dean this fall.
