With strong interests in social determinants of health and infectious disease, Evan plans on attending medical school after graduation. He hopes to utilize&nbsp;his One Health background for collaborative efforts on infectious disease initiatives in both global and rural settings. He plans to pursue a career applying statistical modeling to public health research, specifically population-level health data. He has participated in research analyzing the relationship between technological infrastructure and both air quality and social vulnerability across the United States. He has also contributed to environmental justice mapping initiatives with the North Carolina Environmental Justice Network (NCEJN). Caniya is also pursuing a minor in Global One Health and plans to add a minor in biomanufacturing. Her academic interests include engineering, biotechnology, human health, and product development. As a Global One Health Scholar, Caniya hopes to gain a deeper understanding of connections between human and environmental health while connecting with students and professionals across a variety of disciplines. Through a One Health lens, she hope to explore such topics, build a holistic understanding of health, and advocate for health equity. Ultimately, her career aspiration is to become a physician. Her interests include exotic and wildlife medicine, as well as veterinary research. Currently, she is involved in research in the Cruse Lab.
