{"id":8161,"date":"2025-12-16T17:03:40","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T22:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/provost.ncsu.edu\/global-one-health-academy\/?p=8161"},"modified":"2025-12-17T09:15:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T14:15:36","slug":"speed-dating-to-advance-amr-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/provost.ncsu.edu\/global-one-health-academy\/2025\/12\/16\/speed-dating-to-advance-amr-research\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Speed Dating&#8221; to advance AMR research"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, the Global One Health Academy launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/provost.ncsu.edu\/global-one-health-academy\/antimicrobial-resistance\/\">Grand Challenges Addressing Program (GCAP) in antimicrobial resistance (AMR)<\/a> to address the silent pandemic of antimicrobial resistance at the human-animal-plant-environment interface. An initial planning meeting was held followed by a call for launch and pilot projects where <a href=\"https:\/\/provost.ncsu.edu\/global-one-health-academy\/2024\/09\/30\/gcap-antimicrobial-resistance-seed-grants-awarded\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">five total projects were awarded<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To continue the GCAP-AMR momentum, last week GOHA hosted the <strong>GCAP-AMR \u201cSpeed Dating&#8221;<\/strong> <strong>event<\/strong>, the first of its kind through the GCAP program. The ultimate goal of this event was to facilitate new interdisciplinary research collaborations within the AMR research space. NC&#160;State faculty who are part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/16fo4EipYrUzUFCYyvdQfK8UikhROwcmD32kXBrAw2tc\/edit?usp=sharing\">GCAP-AMR faculty database<\/a> &#8211; those who have published AMR related research in the last five years &#8211; were invited to meet and network with colleagues and explore new research synergies. This two-hour event was packed with dedicated networking time for faculty to introduce each other and learn more about each other&#8217;s research interests. After networking, groups got together to brainstorm research projects and prepare to pitch their ideas to the larger group.
