Dr. Megan Lupek is the Co-Director of the Environmental Sciences program and an associate teaching professor in the College of Natural Resources at NC State University. She teaches introductory environmental science courses and the senior capstone for Environmental Sciences majors, integrating active learning through citizen science projects, case studies, and collaborative problem-solving.
As an environmental social scientist with a background in environmental decision-making, Megan uses mixed methods to study how people think, feel, and make choices about environmental issues. Her current research focuses on nature and mental health, eco-anxiety, and other eco-emotions, as well as the impacts of climate action pedagogy and global learning experiences on students.
Megan also co-leads Campus Nature Rx at NC State, helping advance campus-wide efforts to connect student wellbeing with time in nature. She is active in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and conducts research on student learning, experiences in environmental sciences courses, and perceptions of class projects. In addition, she is engaged in Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), studying how global virtual collaboration enhances students’ global competencies and environmental awareness.
