Bio
Dr. Susan (Sue) Barcinas is an Associate Professor in the Adult and Lifelong Education (ALE) Program and Educational Leadership, Policy and Human Development (ELPHD) Department at NC State University. Her research, graduate teaching and dissertation mentorship work centers on adult learning. She researches and teaches about the adult learning experience – whether it be in informal (life experience) or formal workplace and higher education settings. Her research includes a specialty in health professions education. Dr. Barcinas is a past award winner: the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE) Imogene Oakes Award for outstanding research, the CPAE (Commission for Professors of Adult Education) Early Career Award, the Adult Education Research Conference (AERC) Phyllis Cunningham Excellence in Research Award, the Lavanda B Muller award for research excellence (Penn State University) and NC State’s Opal Mann Green Award for Engagement and Scholarship. She is a past chair of the NC State former University Standing committee on Extension, Engagement and Economic Development. Dr. Barcinas currently serves as the Chair of the Commission for Professors of Adult Education (CPAE) and is a member of the AAACE Board of Directors.
