SUMMARY:Department Head Workshop Series: Faculty Retirements
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that over 400 tenured faculty at NC State are eligible to retire today? Over the next 9-10 years\, the university will be riding a wave of retirements. How do Department Heads effectively work with faculty in the 5-7 years that precede a retirement decision so that transitions are smooth\, positive\, and invigorating for the individual and the department? The Office of Faculty Affairs will share a recent analysis of phased retirement eligible faculty at NC State and facilitate a discussion on local and national approaches to this important transition period in a faculty career. \nDr. Courtney Thornton\, Associate Vice Provost for Academic Personnel and Policy\, will lead the discussion. \nThe Department Head Workshop Series\, sponsored by the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost and organized by the Office of Faculty Development\, is open to all department heads.
