Dr. A.J. Stovall
Professor
Rust College

Dr. Stovall is Professor of Political Science and chairs the social science division at Rust College.

His academic career has focused on researching politics, race and culture; identity crisis of Blacks in America; miseducation of African Americans; racism and white supremacy; and Black student survival on predominantly white campuses.

An international civil rights activist, he has done intensive study of the history and culture of Liberia, Sierra-Leone and Senegal, and is cofounder of the Abroad in Africa Program.

He founded and coordinated the National African American Leadership Conference, a highly successful event for Black students. He is a former vice-president of ABCC.

He was among six veteran organizers called to Germany to develop a civil rights party there.

At the age of 23, Stovall served as the executive director of the Atlanta Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
