Mr. Morrison is an actor, hip-hop theatre artist, and playwright. He is the Master Teaching Artist and a commissioned writer with Arena Stage in Washington DC.
He has been nominated for a Helen Hayes Award and appeared on HBO’s critically acclaimed series The Wire.
His band, PS24, is currently the resident band at the Washington, DC hot-spot, Busboys & Poets.
His play, Free Jujube Brown!, will be published in fall 2007 in the first hip-hop theatre anthology, Playz from the Boom Box Galaxy. Free Jujube Brown! is a one man multi-character driven play that uses hip-hop movement and musical compositions to help tell the story of a young writer who is provoked to shoot and accidentally kill a police officer. Through the guise of ten characters, Free Jujube Brown! comments on such issues as racial identity, police brutality, the commercialization of revolution and the state of Hip-Hop culture.
