Dr. Fred Hord
Executive Director
Association for Black Culture Centers

Dr. Hord is the founder and Executive Director of the national Association for Black Culture Centers. He is a nationally recognized poet, and one of six African American poets to be chosen for the First Poet Series of Third World Press.

He has written three volumes of poetry, including The Rhythm of Home: Selected Poems. And he has authored or edited books on Black culture centers, Black philosophy, and Black literary criticism. Most recently, he edited “Black Culture Centers: Politics of Survival And Identity,” the first book on Black Culture Centers.

He is the creator of the concept of Africoncentrism, and has given more than 100 lectures.

He received his Ph.D. from the Union Graduate School.
